Sundry musings, horse figurine & book sales
In the early 1980s, those who love Hagen-Renakers got a thrill as a number of old molds were brought back by the San Marcos factory. Among them were the three Mustangs, “Don Cortez ,” “King Cortez” and “Sun Cortez.”
I’ve always felt that Beswick artist Arthur Gredington nailed it when it came to sculpting British Mountain & Moorland pony breeds. His Shetlands are true to breed type and a great deal of mischief gleams from their eyes!
The Beswick 1033 Shetland Mare and 1034 Shetland Foal are a pair, while the 1648 Shetland Stallion is part of the entirely separate Mountain & Moorland pony series.
Once, I thought I might want to collect horse postcards in addition to figurines. And I’d pick up a few here and there at antique shows as I saw images I particularly liked. Well, one collection is enough for me and my fledgling postcard collection never went anywhere except eBay.
